AI PRODUCTION
AI advertising production: from brief to testable creative sets
By Lev Homyakov, Founder & AI Creator//6 min
AI makes it faster to produce advertising visuals. It does not decide what to test, which message matters or how a campaign should learn. This is how we move from a brief to a set of creatives that can actually be tested.
What a useful production brief contains
A brief is the cheapest place to fix a campaign. A useful one answers a few concrete questions before any frame is generated:
- —The offer: what exactly is being sold, and why someone should care now.
- —The audience: who sees the ad, what they already know and what stops them from buying.
- —The placement: paid social, a launch page, a brand campaign — each needs different formats and lengths.
- —The goal of the test: which question the creatives should answer (message, visual angle, format).
- —Brand limits: logo usage, colours, typography, tone, things that must never appear.
- —Existing assets: product photos, packshots, past ads that worked or failed.
Why a single hero video is not a testing system
One polished video answers one question: does this exact combination of hook, message and visual work? If it underperforms, you do not know why — the opening, the offer, the format or the audience.
Paid social rewards volume of meaningful variation. A system of related creatives lets you change one variable at a time and read the result, instead of betting the budget on a single piece.
The four-stage workflow
- 01Brief. We agree the offer, audience, placements and the questions the test must answer.
- 02Visual system. We define the look: characters or product rendering, environments, colour, typography and motion rules, so every variation feels like one campaign.
- 03Production. We generate, edit and assemble the creatives in the required formats, with sound, captions and brand elements.
- 04Iterations. After the first results, we produce new hooks and variations around what performed, and drop what did not.
What a testable creative set contains
- —Hooks: several different openings for the first seconds — a question, a product close-up, a bold claim, a situation.
- —Formats: vertical 9:16 for stories and reels, 4:5 and 1:1 for feeds, 16:9 where needed.
- —Variations: the same idea with a different message, visual angle or call to action.
- —Cutdowns: shorter edits of the main piece for placements where attention is shortest.
Every item in the set should differ from the others in a way you can name. If two creatives only differ by accident, they teach you nothing.
Where AI production fits — and where a real shoot is better
AI production is a good fit when:
- —you need many visual angles and variations quickly;
- —the scene is expensive or impossible to shoot: locations, scale, surreal or stylised worlds;
- —you are testing concepts before investing in a larger production.
When to choose a real shoot
- —The product must look exactly as it is — texture, fit and detail that a customer will judge closely.
- —The ad depends on a real person: a founder, an ambassador, a genuine testimonial.
- —Legal or platform rules require real footage for the claim you make.
Often the best answer is a mix: real product footage combined with AI-produced environments and variations.
What to prepare before you start
- —A one-paragraph description of the offer and the audience.
- —Brand guidelines, logo files and fonts, if you have them.
- —Product photos or 3D files at the best quality available.
- —Links to ads you like and ads you have already run.
- —Placements, deadlines and how many creatives you can realistically test.
If the creatives will lead to a landing page, it helps to review that page too — a strong ad sent to a weak page wastes the test. That is where our web design & development work comes in.
A practical next step
Write down the offer, the audience and the one question your next test should answer. Send it to us as a brief — we reply with a proposed creative set and a production plan. See how we work on the AI content production page.
